So I received my new computer yesterday! Couldn't wait to make a topic about it here obviously. It's everything I could have wished for and so much more; runs RS as if I were dreaming. I can span the window across both of my monitors in full high detail and it still flows flawlessly. :D /brag

Specs using the template from the other thread:

Laptop/Desktop: Desktop
Processor: 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400
Motherboard: Asus P5KPL/1600 Socket T (LGA775)
Hard drive(s): 500GB 7200RPM SATA-300 16MB Seagate Barracuda
RAM: 2GB G.Skill PC6400 DDR2 (800MHz)
Graphics card(s): Asus nVidia GeForce 9800GT 512MB GDDR3
Screen(s) size/resolution: 22" Dell something-or-other that I just let my brother borrow, 22" Samsung SyncMaster 226BW (dual 1680x1050 = 3360x1050)
DVD/CD/other drive(s): CD Writer (pinched from my brother's computer)
Operating System: Windows 7 Beta
Ports: 6xUSB, 2xDVI, Gigabit ethernet

Edit: I just accidentally booted into Windows again as I forgot that I'd not reconnected my CD drive ( ) but I reset the BIOS settings first and may have accomplished something; I was able to get the Windows Experience Index evaluation to run. Third time lucky. XD

Now the only issue is that my case was super cheap - well actually, I love the case, but the power supply that came with the case is crap. And I believe I need to have it replaced because it keeps turning off my computer at random intervals. So I won't be able to play with my new toy for another week or so while it gets sent BACK to get fixed. :( :( :(

Anyway... I had to open it up several times to try and diagnose my problems, and also to insert/remove CD drives, so here are a few photos I took. Apologies for the quality and size; old camera, and I don't have Photoshop on my laptop at the moment.

Wow nice PC :) :D

That's a **** good CPU as well, and the same GPU as me :D
Just one thing- why not DVD writer? Are you planning on getting one or do you not need it? You can pick a new one up for £40-ish.

Oh, and did you find out what was wrong with power supply? I had similar problems with my old PC when I started adding new stuff to it- it wasn't big enough I found out. How big is your's? 750W seems about right for what you have there.

Thanks!
Yeah, I don't actually need a DVD writer. It's something I would get such little use out of that it wouldn't really make it worth buying, even if they are pretty cheap. I'm happy with my hand-me-down CD writer at the moment, and at least I have a DVD writer in my Dad's computer for when I do need to burn DVDs. I've only needed to use it once for myself since the beginning of 2007, and that was only recently for my Windows 7 disc. :P

I think the BIOS reset actually fixed it - my computer has been behaving itself for... about four hours now. Which beats the previous record by at least three. It's a little irritating that the BIOS was shipped incorrectly configured, and I only considered it a possibility because a similar but not identical problem had occurred with another computer we'd bought many many moons ago. There were so many factors pointing to the power supply as the culprit in this case that my consultants, nor I initially, didn't expect it to be a soft/firmware issue at all.
Oh and the power supply is 500W. According to the Thermaltake wattage calculator I should be able to get away with around 400W, but it's always good to play it safe.

Looks pretty nice :)

Surprising that the graphics card isn't scoring higher for gaming graphics. Pretty sure I score either a 5.2 or a 5.7 (can't check just yet as I don't have my laptop here with me), and that's with a 256mb DDR3 based mobile card.

In any case, hope your issues get resolved; I bet it's hell waiting for it to be fixed

Ok I was wrong - Shane jinxed it. It worked from 8pm to 2:30am last night when I went to sleep, and yet when I booted it up today it didn't get as far as the desktop before it shut itself down.

I think the 5.9 is normal, although I might've expected it to be a bit higher too. One of my friends recently got a new computer also with a 9800GT and I know his scored somewhere between 5 and 6. In any case it's been able to do everything I needed it to so far so I'm extremely pleased with it.
