You don't need to say "3D" graphics card since that's what graphic cards do :P If you want you could just get the best laptop possible and then you have no need to worry if your PC can do this or that. :D Otherwise you will need an understanding of some specifications in order to get a suitable PC:

RAM: Short for random access memory, the larger it is the more things you can do at one time without lagging the PC. (Links with FSB*) Generally 1 GB and up would be enough for RS and music.
CPU: Central Processing Unit, this shows how fast it will do things such as open a program. If you can then get a dual core (2.5 Ghz and up) or a single core (2.8 Ghz and up).
The Graphics card: The higher the number the faster it can generate graphics (and usually more graphical capabilities). A 128 MB graphics card is great already.

The size of the HDD (Hard Disk Drive) is up to you and laptops come with suitable motherboards.

*Try to find one with 800 or more FSB, short for Front Side Bus, which is how much data can be processed at one time. Even if you have a 10000 Ghz processor, without a good FSB you can only do a certain number of things at one time.

That's pretty much all you need to know I think. Hope you find something suitable for yourself :)

Since you say 3D support for RuneScape HD you really should look into one that has a dedicated graphics card. That is you don't want one that's built onto the motherboard. If that wasn't a necessity I'd recomend the MacBook. However since you do need 3D support and I'm assuming price will be an issue, I suggest you check out the Dell XPS series.

Just be sure that it doesn't have an integrated intel graphics card and you'll be fine.

In general with the modern world of Vista you want at least 2GB ram a nice 120/160GB drive. Pretty much everything else on the modern Dell's will be fine.

PS: I don't think we need to confuse our OP with the details of FSB speed, all modern computers will be fine with it ;)

Was looking on Lenovo's site for a similarly equipped laptop as the Dell. Kept both stock, upgraded the processors both to dual core 2ghz, graphics to Nvidia 256mb discreet, both with Vista Home Premium. Lenovo was around $70 less, if that means anything to you.

Dell and Lenovo are both great, and I do happen to have a newer model Lenovo, and an older Dell right next to me..Both have stood up to some abuse, and either would be a good choice. I'm a bit partial toward the Lenovo, but I suppose it's up to you to decide which fits your needs best.

Hopefully this link works for the 'Lenovo ThinkPad SL500 15.4" wide screen with discrete graphics' (I custimized the link that Shane posted, ended up being 999 when I finished. Unfortunately I'm unable to share the results as apparently you can't show others what's in your cart... Ending prices were $999 for the Dell, $924 for the Lenovo. )

EDIT - That link doesn't show how I customized the Lenovo. Essentially I upgraded the RAM to 2gb, upgraded the screen (I think), downgraded from Vista Business (just to have the same OS as the Dell. I've got business, and for the extra $30, I'd stick with it. I just downgraded for comparison, as the jump up $150 on the Dell to Business seemed a bit much), added a finger print reader and a built in camera. (Found the custimization screen.

For the Dell, Everything was the same. Had to upgrade the RAM, processor, graphics card, etc.
