K when i first figured out the whole idea behind what RAM really does, I said to myself "I want as much as I can get! I want 4GB of DDR2 667Mhz"

But now, I want is 2GB of the stuff?

Is such a thing as going over board with RAM?

Yup, if you MB only supports 2Gig of RAM it is stupid to get 4, it wont be used.

With Windows Xp 2G is fine, I just build a gaming computer for a friend and we put in t4, but the BIOS read 4G but the computer OS only registered 3.25G.

Also with DDR, it's so **** expensive it is not worth getting a **** load. Now you have DDR2 which is DIRT CHEAP so really it doesnt matter to buy a little extra.

Make sure that you get the same Frequency, you dont have to, they will still work but with duel channel RAM it will work better.
Oh and if you MB supports, get duel channel RAM.

So in general, no you cant really have too much RAM. ( but with Vista get as much as you effing can! lol)

Vista = RAM hog

YES!!
Thats the reason why I won't go to Vista.
I've looked at requirements for games and about 99% of the time the RAM needed for it to run on Vista is double what is needed on XP.

Was it a year ago or something my friends were talking about getting 4GB. I was looking at them as if they were stupid. I don't see the point of it if you don't need it.

Thanks for adding that about Vista :P It really isn't bad unless you decided to install it on a 6+ year old junker computer.

Just go to www.crucial.com and use their scanner. If you decide to buy your RAM elsewhere, you'll at least know what to look for.
