The basic differences between the chipset Intel x48 and x38 is the official support to 1600 MHz system bus, corresponding frequency dividers, and also the possibility to exploit a pair of modules DDR 3-1600 with XMP technology and 1.8 v .

Seeing that apparently the X38 can be compatible with both DDR2 and DDR3, do you think it would be more worth it to buy a X38 than a X48? Taking into account that you could just buy DDR2 until DDR3's prices drop a bit?
Also, I'd like to know if you know any other motherboard that could have dual compatibility with DDR2/DDR3, because X38 costs like $264.99.
