Intel Pentium E2140 and Intel Pentium E2160 are Intel's newest budget-CPU's based on the Core 2-architecture.
These new CPU's are clocked at 1,6GHz and 1,8GHz and they both have a 1 megabyte cache.
The FSB (Front Side Buss) on these new CPU's are 800MHz, while the other ones in the Core 2 Duo series have 1066MHz.
The overclocking abilities on these CPU's are very interesting.
A overclocker at another forum has managed to get an E2160 and overclocked it 100% which means 3,6GHz core clock.
These CPU's seem to be a good alternative for any overclocker out there.

Good Work Intel!

Well, these CPU's are still Core 2 Duo processors but they're name is Pentium.
The difference is the L2-cache on the CPU's.
And yes, the E6300-E6700 are still better because of the FSB and cache.

I see little point in them, tbh. You can get a Core 2 Duo for £80, and a fairly good one that can be overclocked. Pentium is a dead brand.

Well, since these are still Core 2 Duo that just go by the name Pentium,
they can be good processors for people who are building a budget computer but still want Core 2's.
And since I am one of those, I really like what Intel did ;D

meh, we really dont need cheap core 2's. The E6300 is cheap enough for pretty much any budget system
