What brand of laptop is the best out there? I am going to buy a laptop mostly used for gaming and school work, and just surfing the web etc. Price isn't a issue if it is a good computer.

Yeah, I was considering getting an AlienWare one. Guess that is what I will go with. I myself have never used an apple, so would not know anything about them. Thanks :)

Acer are good. I have an Acer. DONT buy a dell.

I actually have an Acer Aspire 3023, but i would recommend you get an Aspire 5102.

The 5102 is great for gaming - X1100 graphics, 1GB RAM, 100GB Hard Drive, Dual Core AMD Turion, as well as a 15.4 inch screen.

Apple Mac laptops are excellent, but you would have to buy the mac versions of all the games you have so they work, and some may not be available anyway; so that probably wouldnt be advisable.

Acers are crap, I work as tech support and had to fix one of them. They're one of the most cheapest things I have ever seen. If you want to pay for trash go ahead.

I suggest get a dell laptop. Although those rumors of the exploding laptop and crap. Most of those people that tell those stories have never even owned a dell in their lifetime. Or got one with really crappy specs because they have no idea what their talking about.

Dell has the new XPS out, one of the best laptops out there. Most of the laptop companies don't offer core duo's as a processor but Dell does. I say give it a go, also you don't have to get a XPS, the other models are just as good. :)

I think it is dell. They have a fantastic range of top computers ranging from desktops to laptops. I hugely recommend you use them.

I was going to suggest Lenovo Thinkpads(previously IBM). They make really well and steady laptops. They also don't install junk onto your computer like Dell does. I have a Thinkpad that I use regularly, no problems at all.

Also, if price isn't an issue, definitely check out Apple's MacBooks. Their computers are really slick designed. Operating system's security and interface is no one compared with Windows XP. Plus, you can even run Windows on your laptop using Bootcamp or Parallel Desktop. So now the Mac haters can't say you can't play games on Macs.

Speaking of which, if you still want to get a Windows laptop. Hold off until Spring 2007, when Windows Vista comes out.

Dell laptops expoding is a fact. It's true. It's all over the news. It's not a rumor. But the problem really is Sony's batteries.

Anyways, I think Dell are just some crap with thick plastic on it. If you really want a Core Duo processor, go for HP or Apple. I don't know why you said that, but major brands like Acer, Toshiba, Apple, HP, Lenovo do offer Core Duo processors.
