Yes, you're not going to be very happy dealing with the touchpad constantly.

WASD is the movement keys on most FPSes, W goes forward S goes backward, A and D strafe left and right.
The arrow keys usually aren't used because it would cramp the user on the right side.

7zip is like Winrar, though it's free and open source... Sooo, yea. Instead of the Rar format which only Winrar can create, 7zip creates .7z files which tend to have a higher compression ratio. I'd suggest checking out the current beta, v9.X, as the LZMA2 compression algorithmic is very good.

WASD gets to be very easy after a few games. For some games like GTA, a controller would be nice. But I guarantee you that you won't be able to do something in an FPS or related game nearly as fast with a controller than you could do with a keyboard and mouse.

HL2 question is there any way to get a lot of good maps without having to go into the game to download them?

HL2:DM is free, CSS, L4D, L4D2, TF2, Portal, etc..

Basically the Orange Box, and go from there.
