I think you probably saw some messed up combination mic/speaker. Speakers don't double as microphones, and vice versa. If you somehow did get it to work, the quality of the reverse operation you were trying to get would really be poor.

Ya, sorry we are not trying to be jerks or anything but a speakers cannot be a mico at the same time. unless it is combed which I have personally never heard of.

Yes this is impossible, microphones and speakers are built differently. The only place you would encounter something like this would be in a speakerphone and then the speaker would turn off when the microphone detected input and turn on again when it was quiet to prevent echoing.

A Kid asked Jesus, "How much do you love me?" and Jesus said. "This much."
And spread his arms out on the cross and died.
If you believe that he did this for you put this in your signature.

It could be possible, we just don't know how to do it yet ^^"

Speakers have a thin sheet vibrating to create noise, microphones have a thin sheet extremely sensitive to noise. The parts are also different so it's extremely complicated to get one that works both ways. There has to be a method to find a working solution but till we find that out, there is no current way to do so

I don't think it would work. But there are some very cheap microphones at stores like target. I needed to buy one for my online Spanish class and got a good one for about $20. I think it's a Logitech headset/microphone but i cant be bothered to check right now.

Good luck with the project though :)

Hi Rs

Sure you can do this. Fact is you can even use a set of headphones as a microphone. Here's a link to a straight forward explanation http://www.zyra.org.uk/sp-mic.htm.

Hope this helps. If not do a google search and you'll find lots of explanations.

Bleth

Sorry, Web 1.0 scares me.

From what I found when I was looking around, the microphone qualities that you'd be getting would be best for lower frequency sounds. Not going to be what anyone but Gilligan would call a good replacement for a cheap microphone.

I am sorry, I guess I should have said that "I don't think it is possible", but after reading that article it makes sense. I need to try it sometime.
