You have sold your soul to the devil called Steve Jobs.

They still make iMacs? I thought they ditched their entire desktop line and went laptop only.
Except those $5000 desktops for professionals, which make no sense either since you can build a Windows desktop for 20% of that price.

I think you're better off getting one of those MacBooks if you still wanted a mac.

I'd say yes.

Most people who don't have a Mac don't understand the appeal, especially the extra cost you pay for it. But in my view, it's worth it.

Just be sure to get Apple Care once your first year's warranty is up!

It really is. I at first didn't like mac computers, until I got a MacBook pro free from school. Since then, I've totally fallen in love with it. Windows is just not worth it

I'm sorry bro, I hate when i get $400 stolen from me too :(

Kidding. It an Apple fits you, then good. I always tell people that a computer should go with their personality, and if a Mac does it for you, then you should have a Mac :)

Enjoy it!

Well my own opinion about Windows is that it's too expensive if we consider how much it should be worth. Mac os is free and I say it's a lot better. That is why :)

Mac OS X isn't free, it's part of the cost of the Mac.

Using that logic, Windows is also free since it comes with pre-built systems, yet somehow systems with similar hardware to macs are still a lot cheaper. :-k

Here's a mac joke to kick things off. This is a mac topic, so it's relevevant

Three Microsoft engineers and three Apple employees are traveling by train to a computer conference. At the station, the three Microsoft engineers each buy tickets and watch as the three Apple employees buy only a single ticket.__"How are three people going to travel on only one ticket?" asks a Microsoft engineer.__"Watch and you'll see," answers the Apple employee.__They all board the train. The Microsoft engineers take their respective seats, but all three Apple employees cram into a restroom and close the door behind them. Shortly after the train has departed, the conductor comes around collecting tickets. He knocks on the restroom door and says, "Ticket, please."__The door opens just a crack and a single arm emerges with a ticket in hand. The conductor takes the ticket and moves on.__The Microsoft engineers saw this and agreed it was quite a clever idea. So after the conference, the Microsoft engineers decide to do the same on the return trip and save some money.__When they get to the station, they buy a single ticket for the return trip. To their astonishment, the Apple employees don't buy any ticket, at all.__"How are you going to travel without a ticket?" asks one perplexed Microsoft engineer.__"Watch and you'll see," answers an Apple employee.__When they board the train the three Microsoft engineers cram into a restroom and the three Apple employees cram into another one nearby. The train departs.__Shortly afterward, one of the Apple employees leaves his restroom and walks over to the restroom where the Microsoft engineers are hiding. He knocks on the door and says, "Ticket, please..."

All jokes aside, i kind of like them. Even though i'm a windows person. The thing i miss that windows doesn't have is garageband. That was a great music making program in my mind. Yeah, there are other "garageband like" programs out there. But garageband is good for people that want to have a fiddle, and for people that are serious about making music. And there is the added benefit of not having as much viruses as windows computer because mac computers are by default, setup to be in guest account mode. Some hackers rely heavily on a account having full administration rights to do their dirty work on. All computer users should go online on a guest account in my mind[/spoiler]

Cheers, dafin0

WOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH slow down there sonny....

Your telling me that Windows is not worth the price but a Mac OS is?
Have you shopped around for a computer within the last 10 years???
Seriously Mac are crazy over priced. You can get a windows with the same specs for half the price... Its just doesnt look as nice which can be fixed with some free programs.....

It's not so much about looks for me, it looks nice but it's not the main reason. Here's my rationale why an Apple Personal Computer is worth the price:
- Excellent hardware deisgn
- Excellent after purchase warranty/support.
- Unix. As a developer type I like the fact I can have a Unix style OS that just works without any extra *nix headache.
- Great applications. The freeware applications are much better quality than the type you'd find on Windows.

At the end of the day it's worth it for me. The entry price isn't that bad when you look at it:
- $699 for the Mac Mini. Mac Mini is a great little desktop computer.
- $999 for MacBook. Same specs as the mini pretty much but in laptop form factor.

The iMac is a little more but you get a high quality IPS display too. Sure you can get a PC laptop for half the price but they feel flimsy and don't have as good a screen.

People also need to realize that the "Apple Tax" isn't what it used to be.

We just need to know that we all have our preferences and it's not up to us to judge what someone else uses for their computer ;)

haha as brad v1.0 has pointed out...its just really fun to push your buttons shane. ^.^

just like the midi music.. brad used that to push your buttons and i bet it still works lol

going along with you though since you went along with me on the zune discussion:

i beleive shane is right in saying it is a matter of what do you prefer. I love the way microsoft does stuff. Im not a type of person that would buy anything apple/mac unless i really needed something (ie. i bought an itouch just for the apps lol.. i keep all my music on my zune still though).

go with the company you prefer and dont be afraid to test out the other companies stuff too.. they both have their strong points
