Ok i had this huge moan on another topic and realized i could probably just make a new thread about it. SO. Adverts right? Am i the only one noticing how theres more and more noisey ones now? Has something changed or happened to make this suddenly happen?

I mean youtube is ***** me off with there new video adverts WHICH DO NOT APPEAL TO ME. :@ FOR THE LAST **** TIME I'M 22 YEARS OLD. I DO NOT NOR WILL I EVER WANT HAIR COLOUR PRODUCTS TO COVER UP MY GREY HAIRS. I HAVE NO GREY HAIRS. IF I GOT GREY HAIRS I'D LIVE WITH THEM. I **** HATE ADVERTS. And there worse than tv adverts as well. I can skip right past those i can channel hop till they go away these **** things you can't do anything about. I HATE THEM. :@ And there NEVER for anything good if your going to advertise for christ sake don't use things like hair products why the HELL would i sit here trying to watch a video see that and go OH MY GOD JUST WHAT I WANTED! Has ANYONE ever done that? Play a film trailer. I'd pay attention to that.

But to the point has the amount of general adverts that play sound gone up? Or is it in my imagination?

I don't enjoy using an ad blocker because i know it's a struggle to run a website and i don't like the idea that I'm getting soemthing and scamming them out of some money to help the site giong but if that **** keeps up I'll start blocking adverts. I don't come online to have my ears raped by annoying noises that's over stepping the mark that's going beyond just trying to get by and sell me something and moving into the in my face annoying me territory.

I need an explaination for this. Has a big ad company risen up with this brilliant noisey adverts technology? Is it a trend? Does it pay more? Is it in my mind?

they think that the sound will draw attention to their product and hope the someone, somewhere will notice that ad and say, "Oh wow, maybe I should look into this product/service." although i know where you are comin from, creepy, i hate em too

There's a very fine line between not listening, and not caring. I like to think that I walk that line every day

The problem Creepy is as Ad Blockers keep getting and use and as fewer people get advertisements through other mediums (such as newspapers, TV, and other places), marketers have to find new and creative ways to get their message in. The perfect example...putting an ad within a video. You can't really remove it from the video and people will watch the video no matter what. If companies can ever continue to advertise, it must be through the Internet and videos, as well as TV as long as it stays popular. Can't see any way of getting around it.

I think part of the problem is the users who use ad blockers. It's getting quite popular, the adblock extension for firefox has over 90 million downloads now. Sites are getting less money from less users seeing ads, but get more visitors using up more traffic and server resources. So the owners seek out other advertisers that pay more to offset the users blocking ads and these advertisers are ones that employ more annoying techniques, which in turn drives more people to use ad blockers. Of course it could just be down to the greed of the people running the site as well.

I don't mind image and text ads, but I do hate those ads with sound and absolutely hate those ads before videos. I refuse to watch any videos that make me wait 30 seconds to view a 2 minute clip, I can't justify wasting my time like that. I'm already wasting my time watching a video and they want me to waste more of my time for something I don't even care for?

In general, it seems a lot of advertising is very poorly targeted. I don't know why these companies are paying to have their ads reach the wrong audience.
