I'm on a 2ghz intel core 2 duo. Not satisfied with it despite being most expensive of the parts i've purchased.

What model? There should be no problem with Core 2 Duos. Where are you experiencing the slowness?

Also is it one of the new ones released in january? The newest ones are under the codename "Wolfdale." If you're experiencing slowness it's probably an older one (Conroe or Allendale).

I have a E4600 which is an Allendale. It's much nicer than my old AMD X2 3800+ :D

it's an E2180, think it's an Allendale.

my friend once suggested overclocking it to 2.66ghz but that voids warranty. so i don't really think i should.

I wouldn't overclock if you don't have good thermal controls, good fans are a must for that and also good PSU.

Um, are you sure it is your CPu that is the problem with speed and not your Motherboard or RAM?
