is there a way to remove the copyright?

Unless you cut it out or you had the PSD, still plagarism.

2. I believe it is. If you steal a picture off a newspaper and it a picture of you and claim it as yours it's still plagarism I believe. Although Im not to sure about that one.

If the photo is copyrighted to someone else, you're technically not allowed to remove the watermark, even if it is a photo of you. The watermark is there for a reason; whoever holds the copyright probably doesn't want you using the photo for some reason, so you should seek permission to use it from them.
