Thanks to everyone who helped criticize "The Prisoner V1" to the extent that it was, I hope you guys can do the same for this one.

A few things before I tell you the link...

- I know of a few tiny mistakes to do with the obelisks. But I've had enough of 3dsm today.. I'll sort that in my next version.
- it's a jpg... when I render in png the sky doesn't show up. -.-
- This picture is a massive 6.6MB.
- 1280x960 resolution

Well, here's the link - harsh c+c like last time pl0x. :)

You said harsh so here goes. :)

The chain still looks like a rapist.

The desert doesn't really look good with that sky.

The stone seems to be like it has just seconds ago been placed on the sand, I dunno, it's just not giving me that real feel.

Nice sand btw.

NO! Bad Mean Bib! Other than that good job, that must take hourz.

I like it. :)

Though in my opinion the background needs work. Not just the background, the sand really. The structure looks like it stands out too much. Because you can see a difference a bit between the sand and stone when you look at some of the lines closely. Not to mention when you look at the sand lines in the back, it's plain flat. Needs work still with the back. :?

The clouds need work. They're dull. Flat. Boring. Add some "pizazz". Or something different. :?

It'll look better when you add in weather. 8)

Yup, I'm thinking of lightening the sky and removing clouds in the next version, along with editing the chain.

I'm also going to look for higher resolution, more interesting sandy materials to use for the ground. :)

The displacement map is also going to have a tweak for the next version.

And yes, it takes hours :P

I meant to say days. But yeah, the clouds don't really give that real feel either.

well, i think the shading of the obelisks look wrong.

i think that the farside (side facing you) should be a bit darker. the sun isn't directly on it so it shouldn't really be that bright.

overall though i like it alot. you did really good on this

Thanks, I was told that in the desert, the sun's likely to be extremely bright. Due to 1) the sand reflecting a lot of the suns rays, 2) closest place on a planet to the sun, in theory.

So, I would think - the sand would reflect a lot of the suns rays onto the stone structure, causing the wall to be brighter. :)

Or perhaps, I could darken the shadows :)

the closest place on the planet to the sun is the point with the highest elevation at the equator. Or if anything is closer, its that. I dunno. Deserts are usually flat so I don't think they fit into that category, but..I dunno. I'm only 14, what do I know :?

Here's my "harsh" C&C :D

The sand does not look real. Also around the prison make the sand kind of surround it. Make dips where the sand meets the prison walls. Also the clouds dont look to real. Maybe make a cloud background in Photoshop and use a cloud brush to make your sky. Otherwise I like :P

the only thing that makes desserts hot is 1) they are close to eqator 2) a nearby mountain range forces clouds up causing them to percipitate b4 they reach the dessert causing droughts.

so yeah, you are right about the sun reflecting but your sky and shadows don't match the ones cast onto the sand by the pillars. it looks like the shading on the ground would make it later in the day but your sky seems mid-day bright.

Well, here goes

The sand is WAY too flat and the little dunes on it are off badly. A good idea would be to make the Prison building be on the side of a large dune, with the back half somewhat buried within the side of the dune.

The stone needs to be rougher, less straight-edged. If you are looking for the building to look old, it needs a sand-blasted look to it, and it needs to be more sand colored.

The sky needs something else... maybe a sandstorm blowing off in the distance and the background needs to be slightly bigger, to show how forlorn the prisoners situation is (or was). Also the clouds need to be smaller, sence any clouds that appear over the desert need to be quite high up.

The metal barrels dont exactly match the surroundings, is the cell saposed to be modern-make or Egyptian? If its Egyptian, then the barrels could be made inot short stone pillars and the cell walls need to have a brick and mortar look to them, not poured concrete. Also with the stone walls, what is the chain-fencing for?

The stone that you have on there dosent look natural, it looks more manufactured. Also it looks like you used the same stone texture on the back obelisks as you used on the front. If your wanting a modernized look, each obelisk will need its own concrete texture, different from the others.

And last of all, the structure has little signs of age. If the prisoner is going to be a skeleton, age and rust on the building will add to that effect. Adding rust under the chain links that are touching the ground, slight rust rings around the barrels, and rust stains on and behind the fencing would look great. Damage to the back wall or the stone floor would also make the structure look older, sence a stone building like that would crack under the expansion of the hot days and cold nights that are in the desert.

All-in-all, the overall work that youve added sence the V1 is great. The background and surroundings add to the prisoner look. Being in the desert adds to the feal of the pic, for there is extreme temperature differences in the desert, hes in a stone building, and theres little (if any) water. The sand in the back of the cell means that hes been there a while, and had to endure some sandstorms and wind. After this pic is finished, adding a storyline to it would complete it.
