I will agree with you that its your best.

I do, however, think that it has too much contrast. You might want to fix that. The changes between light and dark are too extreme.

And why did you save it as a gif?! Its not animated - it doesnt need to be a gif. I could easily tell, expecially looking at the hair. Looking at the filename just confirmed it.

With filetypes, remember:

Photos - JPEG is normally fine. PNG would be better.

Non-animated sigs and graphics - PNG. Dont use anything else. EVER.

Animated sigs and graphics - Gif is the only thing available at the moment, however, APNG is going to be released soon, which will combine the perfect, lossless compression of PNG with the ability to animate.

Back to the sig, im going to say 7.5/10 at the moment, but thats only because saving it as a Gif has seriously reduced the quality. Open photoshop or gimp again, sort the contrast, save it as a PNG, and i would easily give it 9, maybe 9.5 (i never give ten).

Yeah, the render placement could be better. at first, when you cant see the wings, it looks low down. I think it would be better brought up a bit, so that the nose is more or less level to the text. In my opinion, it's a bit over-saturated also. Otherwise, yeah, I like it, gj
