Really, now? So, I suppose that Vectors, Pixels, and sigs that are simply illustrated using the pen and/or the pencil tool have no advantages aesthetic-wise over the over-used, lackluster blobs of filters and brushes?

I personally like deathmage's stuff and I believe with a little work on his text he is very much able to create a decent sig.

Note that i said the word "Almost".

I didnt necessarily say that brushes are the greatest thing ever to happen to graphics. I said that they are the best choice for a well-executed idea most of the time.

And also note that as Anubis said, fractals can be used as brushes as well... So can vectors.

yes, i am aware of how brushes can be used :) My problem is that the only graphics programs I have right now are Poser 6 and Macromedia Fireworks :) and you cant do custom brushes there :)

Vectors cant be used as brushes. unless youre using the brush tool in Adobe Illustrator. Which to my knowledge, other than the autoshapes in PS7+, is the only prgram with vector capabilities.

Since fractals are pixel based, they can be converted to brushes. Vectors aren't pixel based. (Its complicated for me to explain what a vector is but I suggest you look it up)

To put it simply.. Vectors stay in Illustrator. And cant be used in any other program. :) Therefore vector brushes = no.

Sorry ;-)
