Let me give you a little tip on how to make realistic blood that'll definitely work for this manip.
First, I'm guessing you used a brush for the blood (correct me if you didn't) and though brushes are okay for blood, they definitely don't work for you if you want it to look realistic. What I do is use stock photos of blood and change the layer opacity so that the edges of the blood blend with the skin. You should check out Resugere's stock on dA for some really good blood stock. So, when you're finished adjusting the layer opacity of the blood and everything looks right, add in small light-ish red reflecting orbs that you'd see on droplets of any liquid. The reason why the blood looks like it's "floating over her face" (lol good way to describe it) is because it doesn't look convincing..it just looks flat.
Ok no more about the blood. I saw the original stock photo and I was surprised that you used it since it was so high contrast. I honestly would have just skipped over such a photo, but I'm really glad that you worked it out. Great job on getting rid of the background, good job on adding texture to the skin. I like it. And I like that it's somewhat disturbing.
