I know this whole thread is going to come off a little rude, but whatever, I'm gonna say it.

I really feel that we need some more moderation on the clan chat. Now, when the official mods are online, they do a fantastic job, but I am seeing less of them on every day. Our mods make great mods for this site, but they don't necessarily play much. Creepy, Mq, and Warren are on sometimes, but not nearly enough to provide sufficient moderation for us. I haven't seen Lance on in god knows how long, and Trekkie is barely on either. Maybe I'm just not on when they are, but I haven't seen much of any mods.

Now, I am not going to suggest that I be a mod because I am not full of myself. But I think that most of us can agree that there are a select few that play often, and therefore can fulfill the positions of moderators.

Keep in mind that this is indeed my opinion and you are welcome to have your own. If anyone disagrees, please post that you do. Who knows, maybe I'm the only one who feels this way.

Thanks, and please mods, don't be offended by this. You are doing great jobs.

I personally think that it should be considered.

I've seen, on multiple occasions, people using offensive language, trying to get people to break rules, and trying to get innocent players banned.

I really do think we need some better moderation.

For now, screenshot any rulebreaking material and PM it to a mod.

Right now, anyone can join the chat...We're not limited to B&B'ers, so there can be quite a few idiots who ruin things for others. I haven't been on enough to say there's been a problem, but I would agree with the fact not many mods are on when I have went to the chat (not saying they're never there, as certain times of the day, it seems everyone's on).

I have to agree with this... Mods don't really join the chat that often and it can sometimes get a little touchy.

Yeah. I agree with the other's. I think that Mike and Shane should take some consideration into giving some "Clan chat Moderator" ranks or something..

I'm in there daily.

But yes, it is a little under moderated. But i have to ask is that really a problem? Nothing major has ever happened in there and you have the report option.

I only say this because, the rs chat isn't a case of being able to see whos done what and what for like it is here. The power could easily be abused. Hell i could kick people from chat and the majority of you guys wont notice cause it doesn't even inform people.

I think that's pretty much why it's only moderators right now but if we was giong to add more, I'd suggest you just give it to the events crew. The ability to kick would come in handy for there events and as they are in the crew, the mass majority of them are very active in rs.

Plus they have more to lose if they abuse it.

yea your right its so simple to abuse it would be really annoying if someone kept kicking everyone else just for the fun of it

I concur with the aforementioned statement. :)

To be honest we should probably head it off now...as the chat grows (as it seems to be lately) the problem will likely only get worse.

I reckon that mike/shane should add more chat mods step by step to see how it progresses:

    In chronological order
    Events crew
    newspaper staff
    rsbandb donators
    distingushed users
    dragon members(maybe)
    rune members(maybe)

Last two only if they are getting desperate to solve it

I haven't really noticed anything that's caused much of an issue. Sure, there's the infrequent person who comes in and spams or lures people into breaking rules, but there's always been a mod on at those times. :/

Those particular ranks on the site do not necessarily hold any kind of power that 'commands respect' such as the Donors or Newspaper Staff. Events Crew's purpose is to organise and manage events, and Distinguished Users are those who don't cause trouble and would be able to hold a civilised controversial debate or discussion. I personally would have thought the Events Crew were likely to be clan chat moderators from the start, but even Events Crew members are not necessarily fit to have that responsibility (one ex-member springs to mind XD). Moderators really just need to be trustworthy.

On the other hand, I think the current EC lineup looks like a good selection of chat mods, it's just that there are only 3 of them who aren't already. :P

That extra 3 could actually be the only required addition though... there were a good handful of mods in the chat at various times when I was on today until later.
