I dont wanna preach, but please read

In the past few days, 2 global mods who have been here since before i was, who have been modding for ages left. In the past few months Ive seen the DCC turn on each other. Ive seen veteran members who have been here for over a year leave, and new people go without becoming apart of the community. Ive seen people come back only to leave again, and old members treated with disrespect. Ive seen the mods+ be disrespect, and old friends becoming new enemies. THe question is why?

ITs not just one person. Its the WHOLE community. People getting on each other for the smallest thing, EVEN PUNCTUATION! People leaving because their grammar may not be perfect, or their posts may not be perfect. I know alot of you are reading this right now thinking of something to rebute with. Thats the kind of attitude im talking bout. Ive seen globals, admins, site owners, and normal members make posts like this, and its always argued. People saying its not them, etc. Its everyone. I know there are people who are probably sitting there counting my spelling and grammar mistakes, and thats just sad.

When i came here almost 2 years ago the community here was tight. so I stayed. Almost everyone was friendly. Coming from my own personal experience here: a year ago when i made chat mod, what did people do? they argued that i shouldnt have been, and that i was made it solely because i was in the chat room alot. That is an example of what im talking about. People here are maknig the good become bad, and the bad worse.

Now, ive ended my preaching and i know some of you are going to just leave this post without posting and just blow it off. Soem will think about it. Some will argue, and some will agree. What ever a person does, remember that its their opinion, and you should respect peoples opinions whether u like it or not. If you dont agree with what im saying, thats fine. You can post that you dont, its your opinion, and this is mine. Just dont flame it, or say im stupid, or im wrong, or i made some grammar mistakes.

I agree with you, Brandt. I've been here for more than two years, and I could see the evolution clearly.

IMO the biggest culprit is our desire to "be cooler/maturer than other person". Grammar nazis are just posting to get their name on the topic, to show off how smart they really are... I mean, post something that can contribute to the topic subject, and perhaps help the person with his grammar, although this is not needed, you don't come here to learn good english, but to make fun/friends, but it has to be the other way.

I'm sometimes disappointed how older members behave themselfs unfriendly towards the new members, which eventually leave, thus leaving us with the same number of regular users. Then they want to exell themselves above others by behaving negative towards other.
Also IMO the site is being influenced/controlled by a few members which I won't name.

Remember, this is only MY opinion, you can flame it, or you can print it and use as expensive toilet paper...

For the parts that involve me, it's been dealt with and we're all friends now. At least, I am. ;-)

People are allowed to fall out, but yeah, I agree with some points, there's negativity here and it's much more visible than the positive things. But it's also important not to focus on the bad points and look at the good things instead.

People seem to like conflict.

The recent "dog thing" in the sandbox is getting to me though, I posted that my puppy died a while back, and I never got responses like what has been said now. :\

Every once in awhile there needs to be conflict to settle disputes. Trekkie and MQ left for real life reasons, crateer left because he was hacked. Killerz, probably because he though the community was going down hill and Blacksmith because he had no friends here.

I don't see what the problem is, just look at my signature 8D.

I agree that the community here wasn't what it used to be, but you have to remember, especially the old members, 2 years is a long time. It's a time where many people change their personalities and mature.

Just because this is only a forum, that you don't know these people in real life, it doesn't mean these aren't real people. If the community stayed the same over 3 years, I'd be suspicious, because it's human nature to change.

Don't hugely see anything majorly different or anyone being rude. Couple of assholes that have always been assholes about but they always slip up and find themselves banned in the end.

People are welcome to PM me via the forums any of this nature so i can see it for myself and pass it on.

Brandt is right, this community pretty much sucks for the most part, has for quite some time now. Even putting behind my personal opinions about certain people, or certain groups, or certain things that have taken place in the past.

Putting all that behind me, I still see this community as the way Brandt put it..

When I was first made a global mod I had the same problem to Brandt, people didn't think I should have been, but I put that behind me. Basically I thought who gives a crap what they think..

proved myself to be right for the position..

Also Agent Waffles, I left rsbandb quite some time ago. I haven't technically come back, I post every now and then but that's it. I don't look at rsbandb the way I used to. Never will again.

This however does no pertain to every member or group. Most new members leave or don't stick around because more than 30% of the community treats everyone else like crap. This isn't about popularity of fan site's, but rsbandb does not have many members. Due to a few reasons, but one of them is the way this community acts towards others.

One last part An interesting fact is a comparison between rsbandb and runehq. Runehq is strict, has many rules, and enforces every single one harshly for the most part. Rsbandb has many rules, more so guidelines than anything. Rsbandb has and usually is lenient towards most rule breakers giving the most common verbal warning. This is the problem, too many pricks in this community are abusing the freedoms rsbandb gives. They take advantage of the fact rsbandb isn't extremely strict. Just something to put into perspective..

Anyways that's my opinion, agree or disagree I really do not care. But I made my mind up many months ago. It still is and will always be made up.

It's threads like this that encourage me to leave, everyone admits there has been instability here, but saying it again and again just reinforces it. Move on already.

I just want to say this, since I think you can get the wrong impression from my posts sometimes. I try not to disrespect anyone in my posts or argue with anyone or anything else. If your getting an impression of anything like that, please PM and tell me so I can edit my post and try to work on it.

Like I said above, it's better to focus on the good things rather than the bad. We may be a small community and we all hate each other (lol), but we have a laugh and support each other usually

What Brandt said is true, Its annoying when people start complaining about little things. Also we should be nicer to newer members and when we joke (a joke that could be taken wrongly) we say Just playing.

Pretty much, people say there's a problem - yet i've opened up my PM box to everyone and anyone and i've not got a single pm come through. I don't see any major problems, the community is the same as it was a year ago and the year before that even.

Infact we get a thread like this every year, lol. :oops:
