Sometimes when we ban people, after they get unbanned under a certain circumstance, we put them on probation for a while. If they do anything wrong during probation status, they are banned permanently, no second option. When you are banned, you can't login and depending on whether or not you are IP banned, you may not even see the forums. When you are on probation, you are like a normal user, but your activity is strictly monitored.
