So the reason behind most rules here (spam, double posting) is because "people will do it just to raise their post count", so I say disable post counts altogether.

Whenever there's a topic about forum ranks, people say "it's just a number that doesn't matter", so getting rid of it will surely stop the few who do care about it from spamming and double posting.

No we won't. This isn't a huge code change.

Yeah lets have threads with post like '' 0mfg3zz h4x0rz'' in graphic central and Fake Runescape picture in G & A . Lets have like a guy double posting few hundred times in the same topic. I think the rules doesnt need to be changed.

That isn't the reason why the rules are here, it's only part of it.

Anyways, I don't see how disabling post count would significantly stop double posting or spamming. In fact, I've been noticing some spamming we get lately are from members around for a while  and double posting from my perspective is usually people not familiar with the rules.

Try reading what I wrote.

Sure it will. No more people posting short meaningless posts just to get their post count up.

We don't need to go into the debate on this. Like I mentioned previously, most of these "short meaningless" posts lately are actually coming from members like you who've been around for a while that don't care about post count.

Ok...

Why is there no post-count in the sandbox/newbies/goals?

Sandbox- Originally for testing signature stuff so no post-count necessary it gets pruned anyways.
Newbies- At one time, we had tons of retiring/welcome/vacationing posts in the non-RS discussion that were pretty much meaningless. Ex: "Hi" "Bye" "See you" "Come back please!"
Goals- Too many meaningless posts that pretty much say "good luck" and "congratulations".

Keep in mind, post count is like a reward to some people for people who make contributing posts. We don't want to reward people for meaningless posts.

I fail to understand why you care so much about our rules.

It's ANNOYING having to read through 2-5 posts of the same person in a row.

Removing post count wont get those rules removed, they'll remain and be enforced.

I'm pretty sure I'm not suggesting a rule change here.

Last i heard you called those rules stupid and complained about them, i presumed this was linked to it..but whatever.

Either way, majority of double posters and spammers are those that are new to forums and just don't realize they can edit posts.

Rarely do i spot someone who's just blatantly trying to raise their post count, still..we have better ways of enforcing it, like banning them, reducing their post count, hitting them in the head with a big hammer.

I don't think people double post to get their post count up, they do it either by accident by hitting submit twice, or if they're new to the forums and clearly haven't read the rules.

Disabling post count, people might get the wrong idea and feel free to double/triple post and the whole forum will become shambles.

Ok, Robbie..no offence here...but you come back..and you say that after posting over 15 pointless discussion topics which over flowed the whole section with very little people posting on them..the rules are there for a reason, thats that no further discussion. Actually one of the rules is not to question a higher authority, the rules were written by Mike and Shane for a reason, dont question it.

Where in this topic did I question a rule, exactly?
