Should you want to use your own avatar which you've made or found from a website, re-host it using http://www.imageshack.us , then find the "direct link to image" box and copy that address. Put that link in this box found in your profile settings (click on the profile button right underneath the forum banner).

If you want to use the on-site avatars, in the same place as above, simply click on avatar gallery. Find a avatar you like, click on the white circle, then click the select avatar button.
