I have received an unofficial warning for using "too dark of font" when I write.

If we (the users) are going to get in trouble for using one of the "possible font colors" then why provide it as a "possible font color"?

To whom ever that has the power to do so, remove from the "possible font colors" the colors that we are not allowed to use.

Thanks

It says right in the rules that you shouldn't use darker colors, and it's kind of a common sense thing as well.

I see no reason for someone to bother taking them out unless it's a really simple process.

If it says it in the rules though, then why even provide them to us as an option? I think that's the million dollar question right there, and I would like it answered.

Uh... You can use any font colour you want, it's not restricted to the palette that is defaultly put in by the forum software. Because it's removed from that palette on the side of the posts isn't going to remove the ability of using it.

Clicking the "preview" button before you post to judge if its too dark, sticking to one colour, or not even using colours is a much easier and better option then having to alter the code to stop *every* single colour which is too dark (there are A LOT of colours that would need to be gone through to see if it's too dark or not-something like 16 million+ I think).

You're acting as if I'm asking for someone to change 16 million+ codes. From the palette I can assume there are no more than 10 colors that would be considered "too dark". You fail to answer the question, why provide us with colors that we are forbidden to use?

Because the palette comes that way by default. It may also be a test to see which users don't follow the rules.

A Kid asked Jesus, "How much do you love me?" and Jesus said. "This much."
And spread his arms out on the cross and died.

Warren is referring to Hex Codes, which are the HTML name for colors. Wiki it for a better explanation.

The rules are referring to the use of dark colors in almost every post. They don't want you using dark colors in every single post as it makes it harder to read. Some monitors present everything darker than usual. Thus a dark red may appear extremely faint or not at all. You want people to be able to read your posts, right?

The reason the dark colors are still in the list is because you're allowed to use them as special effects in posts. Before spoilers we used black to hide things. Darker colors are also sometimes used in the Literature forum to differentiate speech.

This is my interpretation of darker colors, an Admin or another Mod may correct me.

The forum has been around since 2004, and this hasn't been needed. Occasionally people use darker colors, and usually they are the newer members of the forum who haven't learned the rules yet. I'd expect anyone who has been around for 1000+ posts to know that you aren't supposed to use dark colors anyway.

In any case, it's just an unofficial warning. If it doesn't happen again, there shouldn't be any need to be concerned.

I don't see why 3 seconds to click the preview button takes long. Writing in colour isn't really required anyways and some people are annoyed by colour in posts, might as well remove the whole ability for them. TBH I think you should preview your posts always to read over what you wrote but if you're not into previewing, but want to use colour, just use one colour consistantly so you only have to check it once.

As Pfk said, there is rarely a run in with this rule, and it usually ends the first time at the colour tags being removed and a mod message in the post. I don't think it's that big of an issue.

If they are in the quick "change color" menu by default, but there is a rule saying don't use them, then just don't. How do you not understand that? It really isn't a big deal that you got told to change your font color - you are blowing it completely out of proportion.

"O plz, spaer me, if u dun want me 2 use em den take em out!!"

Well, if you have that mentality, then you honestly need to rethink it from the authority's point of view. By agreeing to the terms and conditions, you're agreeing to abide by their rules. So if a rule says don't use dark colors, then don't. Your argument about them being "provided" is totally irrelevant because of BBCode. You can use any color if you know the hex code for it, whether it is in the palette or not.

So quit crying. It wasn't even an official warning.

Because the colors came by default. it is there when the administration decided to use phpBB as their way of building this forum.
I would also like to address that, the moderator team cannot do anything about the different font colors that are available to use. The only people who have a chance of addressing this issue of yours are the creators of this website who are Mike and Shane.
