what is this listing might you ask? this is the listing for the top guthix ranking scores on rsbandb hihgscores... there seems to be a raher large problem here, and i urge you to check the stats of all of these people, except nicong, whom i've highlited in green. (hes another story)

have you looked yet? good, now you'll notice all of these players are SINGLE SKILL PURE ACCOUNTS. i don't know why these players have chosen to place these characters as their mains, and list them to be put in the highscores, but in my opinion, they do not deserve to be in this category at all. guthix is about balance correct? then how can these players be balanced if 2 of heir 23 skills have never been trained? i do not mean to offend you mike, but i see a major problem with this. hardworking players like nicong, myself, southrend, alex43, and even yourself, mike, and shane, have been thrust back 15+ ranks in this category because of single skilling pures.

i dont know about many of you, but i took pride to be duking it out with an elite few to be in the top 3 of this category. it was, for a short time before it became corrupted, my motivation to raise my lower skills an become more balanced, but now, what do i do? it looks like to even get into the top 5 i would need to raise 8 or 9 more of my skills up by around 12 levels just to move up a rank or 2... im sorta dissappointed by all these players, one of whom is our beloved creepypirate, who i respect and like, who has made his own sadisticham woodcutting pure and leapt ahead of those players who have put months, maybe years into their accounts, not to get up in this category, but who did end up high as a nice bonus.

now i am not suggesting that all of these players remove their account names from rsbandb (unless they specifically put it there to stab true guhixians in the back >=[... ), but i think, if it isn't a hassle to him, that mike could perhaps redefine this category so that single skill pures like these don't ruin my favorite category.

Total Experience / 23 = Guthix Score

So mine would be;
43,744,707 / 23 = 1,901,944
1,901,944 = Level 79
So my guthix score would be, and is, level 79.

I think it'd be somewhat more accurate if the equation took total level instead of total experience.
Mine would be 71.5 then.

Though that doesn't really show how balanced your skills are, just what your average is.

Maybe it could show;
100 - (Highest skill level - Lowest skill level)

So then.. mine..
100 - (92 - 48.)
100 - 44
=56

Which I guess would show a much better hi-scores, though there are still problems with it;
- A low levelled account with 30 in all skills would then have the same rank as those with 99 in all skills. So I guess the only way to solve that would be to rank the players with same guthix rank in order of highest skill total.

Creepy, I don't think it's very fair to have someone with only skill ranked at the top. How is that balanced at all? You are only training one skill. That's as unbalanced as it gets, but the ranking system isn't taking that into account.

Before I solved this problem by making it so overall level has to be ranked to have a high guthix rank. I guess when we updated to the lite high scores something screwed it up.

I could just add penalties for each skill that is less than 30, but then that's not very fair to f2p people?


Maybe the solution is to make the calculation much more complicated than it is now. Right now it calculates your average level then takes the difference with each skill and adds all those differences together and divides it by the highest possible difference to make it a nice number out of 100.

I think I have an idea, expect to see it change when it updates next.
