It's still a new post?

I've been having this problem a lot recently:

I go into a forum, read all the new topics and posts, then go back to the main forum index. I see that there are still new posts in the forum. I go back in and find that the same topics and posts that I had just read are still marked as new.

What could possibly be wrong with the forums that makes this happen? Is it a cookie error? Is my browser caching the pages? Does the forum not realize that I have read those posts? Am I seeing things?

Even my own topics are showing up as new when they have no posts other than mine!

Do you use "Back" to go to home page? If so, there is your problem.

No, I click on the Runescape Bits & Bytes Forum Index link.

if its anoying you just go to the bottom of the index and click mark all as read.

if that still doesnt work, i find that logging out, clearing your cookies, and logging back in always works

I cleared my cookies, and now the problem isn't happening.

I used to have the same problem.

This happened to me, and was generally solved by closing my browser and restarting it.
