I've recently decided I want to get a dragonfire shield, so I've been hunting for one. I can melee iron/steel dragons decent enough, but I was wondering if I should give ranging them a try. I was also considering ranging black dragons. I'm thinking black dragons would be more profitable in the long run due to I would probably sell the bones and the hide whereas I would probably bury the bones at iron/steel. One thing I definitely don't want to do is maging. It might be effective, but it's not really my thing. What do you people think would be the way to go? :)

Hmm I'm trying it out, and so far it does seem to be pretty easy. :) I guess I'll do Irons for now. Black dragons are easy and will die faster, but there's more competition there... :/ (members dungeon ones at least)

I would melee iron dragons, they are pretty easy to kill if you use super sets and have a decent drop rate of visage. Ranging will take too long, compared to your melee stats. Just bring dds and whip for meleeing. Good luck.

if your going to do runs to black dragons every time u fill up on drops then i recommend ranging with a good bolt such as rune or better. you'll pay for the bolts with the drops so skys the limit really. dont really need dragonstone (e) or better since leechlife isnt needed and the dragonstone e wont do any special.

so basically: diamond (E) > rune > ruby (E) > emerald (e) > broad... and use bunyip or something other to heal you if you use ruby (E)'s

err broad bolts aren't that far behind rune bolts and cost about 10% of the price. They're the best choice for me. I do definitely like range though. It's not as fast as melee at irons, but I'm killing a ton more per trip on less resources. I guess I'll stick with irons for now. Is there any confirmation on visage drops rates? I would kill more black dragons, so I'm not sure if those would be better. Eh I dunno.

I would range Blue Dragons if you can go into this area.
For the bolts I'd go with broads.

A visage can't be obtained from a Blue Dragon.

No lol. Only black dragons, iron dragons, steel dragons, king black dragon can drop a visage.

Black dragons are the easiest and are known for the highest drop rate. You can safe spot them also.

My noob self doesnt have a very good opinion seeing as I'm level 75. I would range black or iron/bronze. I've had pretty decent success ranging green drags.
