Since you have over 40 def, get rune armor if you can. Train strength at this point, I would say. Hobgoblins are good, hillgiants, weaker roaches in exam center at Barb village, and you should be good to go. I prefer fast weapons over the rune 2h, but that's up to you.

Don't use a r2h, its slowness doesn't make up for the damage you could be hitting with a scimitar.

I'd go with Hill Giants in the Edgeville dungeon, which is also handy for prayer if you don't have it up to 43 yet.

This is assuming you are f2p, of course. There are probably better options in p2p.

Although I am a proud supporter of the rune longsword, I have to agree with Kulla that the scimitar is a better option as far as training goes.

For F2P

Rune Full Helm
Amulet of Power
Rune Platebody
Rune Platelegs
Leather Boots
Rune Kiteshield
Any ring
Any Cape
Rune Scimitar
Leather Gloves

Pretty much the best set up for F2p

Train on Moss Giants and then Lesser Demons once you hit 70 combat

Rune gauntlets from FoG are even better and they don't degrade over time either.

And yes, the Fancy Boots/Fighting Boots from the Stronghold of Security is better than leather boots.

Get some rune armour first. At your level do Dragon Slayer if you havent already, I did it will all melee stats at 40.

For training:
Flesh Crawlers, bring some food
Moss Giants, you can try these but I would reccomend you be a bit higher
Roaches, the lowest ones
Minotaurs, they drop ores so they can help your smithing too

Thats all I can think of right now. Good luck! And one more thing, get a rune scimatar for training.
