When do they decay?

I'm getting annoyed at mine really.. it makes things a lot easier for tasks like kalphites but I didn't even get to complete a single slayer task with a brand new cannon (replaced just before doing the task).

Is it damage dealt or time running? I'm not sure... it'd be easier to plan things if I knew.

You get a message warning you before it decays right? All you have to do is pick it up and set it back up and it will be good as new. It happens at random, usually after 200 shots.

I thought it was 700 shots? Then u just pick it up and put it back.

Well it doesn't matter, seeing as you get a message when the cannon is about to decay.
