I didn't see the needle, because its color was the same as the ground in the place they were standing. The Trading Window was translucent. The number 3 was so far to the left that it looked like an extra 3 in the cash the person put up, so the person that was trading thought it was more, and would accept and only receive 1m instead of 10m.

the needle is so faint and matches the background of the rsc trade window so its hard to see. it is in the window 1 unit to the right of the cash, diagonally with the eyehole at the top right.

Oh I see the needle now...and just remembered that the amount of an item is at top left...Pretty smart scam...

i could barely see needles also, pretty good scam in classic though
