I recently got 128 of them for a slayer assignment. First of all: do they use mage or melee? second: should i switch assignemnts? third: what is the best way to kill: dart, spear, or arrows?

They are a pretty good assignment. I had them once and just used the spear. It hits them pretty hard and they rarely hit me. They do not have a range or melee attack. I think ranging them is a little faster then melee, but thats if you have good range. I always killed the bigger ones becuase they give more slayer xp.

Turoths are a great assignment. They go down easiest when you range them.

There is a safe spot between the rocks near the east end of the room. However, Turoths will run or not react if they are far away. Broad Arrows are about as strong as addy arrows so it should be pretty fast. Great range xp anyway.

If you melee, wear full dragonhide, warrior helm and good boots. I'm not sure whether they do magic or melee damage but they seem to do more on people with full rune (perhaps they're like jellies).

Maging turoths isn't very good unless you're rich and can afford it.

They drop lots of herbs so if you're going to safe spot, make sure you bring only a bit of food so you have space to pick up the drops.

Turoths are one of my favourite tasks.

A bit of advice, the level 87 turoth hit a lot more frequently than the level 89 ones. I never attack anything but the 89 and 87.

Use spear, ranging is slow, and mage is slightly more expensive. You cant range the lv89 because its far away from the range spot.

k, ty, im using spear and have killed around 30. I'm seeing a lot of ppl there using full rune, and they dont seem to be hit too much... Should I try more of a melee def?
