Another leak at a new skill. [Confirmed fake]

I was browsing the main forums when I saw a topic about it. I youtubed it and found this video. Here's the link.

And here's a clear screenshot.

If this is true it's pretty interesting. Hopefully it won't just be another tease like the dragon pickaxe though.

I doubt it's real. Really, what would you do with the sailing skill? Also, the icon looks a bit different than it should. It could be that it's just a temporary icon, but still.

Yeah very interesting.
However the icon doesn't have "jagex's style". I don't know how to explain this better.

Did you take that clear screenshot or you found it?

Sailing? That's unexpected but ... definetly interesting. I think it'd be pretty cool if you could sail around Runescape's seas with your own (customizable?) boat and fish, possibly kill new monsters ... of course, after all the work put into the new graphics, I'm not sure Jagex would be up to putting that much detail into it. Then again, a new skill has to have new aspects

Yeah I've already noticed that in the new Runescape Banner you see the mage standing in a boat. I already thought about a sailing skill when I saw that. Now you've provided that image it looks like it could actually be true.

i think it was before when there was the lady lumbridge thing. where you had a boat but couldn't do anything with it. i think this is the compromise

In early Runescape you were sailed from TI on some guys boat(a rowboat unlike any other boat in existence at that time i think)...

That suggests: a new quest (sequel to DS), a new staff, new skill (the cape is no normal cape) and that MMH is a noob.... but not so much the last one... might also suggest pirates (the gold thing)

Oh yeah, I saw that quote by Mod Mark on the forums. I don't know where to find it though. It definitely tells you they're up to something.

I read a bit on the official forums, and a lot of people confirmed seeing the icon, also. I'm going to try to find the url of the image. Also, here is an idea a friend had about sailing. Also, it goes with that theory someone had about the update being a lot more than graphical. He suggested that you might be able to use sailing to sail to other continents. If sailing is true and that happens, they would obviously have a few continents made, meaning that the size of Runescape would probably double.

Edit: I typed in the link it would be (http://www.runescape.com/img/hiscores/skill_icon_sailing1.gif), and nothing came up.

i wouldn't be surprised if sailing comes out. if you guys remember when the Varock museum was redone,if you got enough kudos you would be able to go to some "island" when the boat is ready. Also, the construction workers are still working on the boat over by the digsite

That's a very good point actually. But how much kudos do you need - full or just 100+? I don't remember what it was. Either way there's actually a fair bit of work involved in getting that much kudos. This particular boat and island could be linked to sailing, but it seems unlikely. Interesting that you brought that up - I'd personally completely forgotten about the Varrock museum follow up updates. How much more have we overlooked?

As for Mod Mark H's quote, I actually specifically thought to myself "Wtf, that staff doesn't exist" when I first saw the banner, but didn't think anything of the cape, boat or dragon. A sequel to DS would be unnecessary - ffs wrap up the other quest lines already - but could prove interesting.

There is some evidence against Sailing, to the point where Shane and I ruled out the possibility of its existence, but I have to say that this quote makes a fairly large difference.
Going back to the original screenshot posted, we see that there is a larger gap between the skills and minigame hiscores than what there currently is. The sailing icon has a width of 12 pixels, while all others are stretched to 16 pixels. These are the only parts of the screenshot itself that lead me to believe it could be faked, and so it appears unlikely that it has been. For Sailing as a skill, there are a couple of other insignificant pieces of evidence against it so I won't bother detailing.

So wait.. if this is real, they must have had this in planning for a while now?
Maybe this is why nothing ever gets done right. They're working on Summoning, Sailing, an entire graphical overhaul, quests, bugfixes and all the other little things simultaneously?
