Plot
=The village of Teliris is visited by the Onuri, a sect of priests and priestesses who practice a mysterious art which seeks power from the dark god, Korynus. They promise the villagers power beyond nature and recruit Caillara as a fledgling priestess. It isn't until her father is murdered that she realises their true intent. When the village comes under danger from the Onuri, she escapes to the hills where she encounters the Siri-- a coalition of priestesses and priests who oppose the Onuri and seek to protect those in the way of their destructive path. Caillara must use the teachings she learned from Onuri to help defeat them or face the ruin of her way of life.
Chapter One
High up in the trees was where Caillara spent most of her time. When she reached the very top, she pretended that the distant mountains to the north of Teleris were majestic kingdoms and that one day, great kings would come forth to save the village from constant hunger and disease. On this particular day, Caillara's eyes focused not on the faraway mountains, but on the trade path leading into the village. A mass of people dressed in dark cloaks, not customary of merchants, inched their way forward to the village gates. The news of these unannounced visitors was enough to end the young girl's daydreaming and send her off in the direction of the village square.
When she arrived there, the darkly clad men and women had already entered the gates. From behind the shoulders of those fortunate to be taller than her, Caillara saw an old man standing before the chief of the village. His hands were spread wide and his voice rang out clearly, “We are the Onuri, a peaceful tribe of priests and priestesses from the east, who seek refuge from our aggressors-- the Siri. We have neither food nor weapon to offer your village, but rather, the power to end the strifes of war, hunger, and disease. We ask that you allow us to erect a temple to our Lord Korynus so that we may empower Teleris with his wisdom and blessings”. The chief raised his hand in welcome to the strangers and gestured for the bearded man to follow him to his lodge.

Caillara nearly burst with excitement as she scampered home, her flaxen hair trailing her in the wind. “What's all this?” her mother scolded, noticing the dirt streaked across her daughters newly-sewn dress, “I send you off to gather wood and you come back with half the forest on you!”
Looking down at herself, Caillara felt a pang of shamefulness for her appearance, knowing that her mother spent time carefully dying and stitching the dark red fabric. She pushed the thought away and looked up at her mother excitedly, “There are men here! They're not traders either. I saw them come. They came all they from the east without horses and the want to build a temple here!”
The look of disapproval remained on her mother's face. “We don't need a temple in Teleris. What we do need is food, water, and wood. What we don't need is priests promising to make our lives better when they've only come to steal our land, and what I don't need is a useless daughter who can't even complete the simplest of chores without dallying!” Little Tasca let out a loud wail in response to her mother's shouting. She turned her back to Caillara and lifted the baby from the crib, cradling it against her chest and murmuring soft words to soothe the baby's cries.
Later that day, her father returned home. She could tell from the troubled look on his face that Tanyn, the old blacksmith, had succumb to the red flux. The man was old as it was, but his death brought the reminder that many had the disease were sure to die of it. He folded Caillara into his arms and smiled sadly at her.
“Guess what, papa!” chirped Caillara, hoping to cheer up her father with good news.
“What is it, little bird?” he asked.
“Nobody will ever die anymore! Priests from the east came and promised to cure all the sick, make all the crops grow, and defeat the Ordovisi to the west!”
“She's been hanging around the square listening to the blathering of a gang of senile fools, no doubt,” said her mother.
“Now, Fianna, quiet. I heard about the Onuri's visit. They claim that they can better our village, but no one knows why they chose Teleris, or what their intentions are.”

That's the first chapter. I figured that I'd write the plot down so you all knew what was going on and were interested in reading the second chapter. C/C is welcome. As you can tell, this is meant to be a long story, so there will be more to come. Also, please point out any grammatical/spelling errors here. I'm aware that I'm not perfect at English, but I'm always willing to be helped
