So my monitor is showing red lines across my screen

Disabling Aero is something that would occur if the computer detects that it doesn't have enough graphics power to support it. Not too surprising if it's disabling itself if it's unable to use your graphics card.

Try a different OS, see if the same issues persist.. If they do, then it's hardware. If not, it's possible that it's software related.
