My new mic that I bought (after my cats chewed it one up), is broken or something. It was working like magic, but now it's completely annoying to the people who are listening to me.

My mic keeps on making sounds like wind is blowing on it, like I'm outside or something. I open up Audacity and look at what's going on, and I see this entire thing just filling up with waves, it seriously sounded like I was outside during a freaking hurricane.

Oh, and I forgot to add, even when my mic isn't in it still does the wind noises. Not as bad though. It just sounds like static.

Any help would be really nice, I don't want to have to go return this. >.>

If you're on a laptop, try removing the outlet power, and running it off of batteries. That helps my interference problems..

Since it's different now than it was, something probably changed. Try it on a different computer to see if it's the mic or the computer that is the root of the problem, then let us know which one it was.

Yeah I was talking to you when that happened. It was so annoying! I wish we knew what was wrong. I honestly don't know what to do.

I don't have a fan, I don't have any relatives that will let me use their PC to try to see if it was my mic, or anything.

Can someone tell me how to do whatever Al3X was talking about?

Pretty sure that is right. If it uses a 3.5mm plug and not USB it most likely doesn't use drivers specifically for the mic but rather your motherboard or sound cards sound drivers. Am I correct here?

Yep.

Something wrong with your motherboard or perhaps you need to update its audio drivers?
I'm really not sure though. It doesn't sound to me like a driver problem, but that's always worth checking anyway.

One thing you could check is your enabled recording devices... I know the interface is quite different in Windows 7 so unfortunately this might not be a very good example for you but it gets the point across:

Try disabling every recording device you're not using, and set the one you are to be the default. The Line In specifically was the one I was thinking of, but I don't know. It shouldn't have anything to do with it but it's worth a try.
