Back in august I managed to get RCT3 up and running. I had alot of fun with it untill like 2 weeks ago... I downloaded someone's custom project from the official Atari forums as a little add on. Then awhile later, the game starts acting up on me. This is what happens:

If you need to get Direct X 9, go to Microsoft's site and get the version 9c.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... d92a3&displaylang=en

Try that, and if it doesn't work, we'll have to dig a bit deeper in to the problem.

I have Direct X 9. Ive been able to play the game before. It's only because I downloaded this guy's custom ride file.

If you're able to remove the mod, try doing that. Don't know if it would help too much, but it's worth a shot.

I know you already have Direct X9, but try reinstalling it. There might be a corrupt file somewhere, and reinstalling should help fix the problem.

Short of some registry edits, I'd look at backing up all of the gamesaves you've got, and reinstalling RCT3.

I'll have a go at removing the mod file and if that doesn't work...do I have to remove the whole game?

Sorry I'm abit of a newb at this, but how do i backup all the scenarios and stuff I saved?

Dunno. I'd expect there's a folder in the Program Files (Ex: C:\Program Files\Atari\RollerCoaster Tycoon 3\) that would have your gamesaves.

According to a Yahoo Answers post, "Now I haven't played RCT-3 (I only played up to 2 which i was disappointed with) but you can search your computer for *.trk files which will be the roller coasters and *.dat files which are the parks.

Note: Be careful when moving *.dat files cause many programs use them."

If it comes to uninstalling RCT3, you should be able to at least copy those files and overwrite the new files after you reinstall. Hopefully it won't bring the same problems back, but you could try just replacing your favorite gamesaves first then working up from there.

I removed the mod now and its still doing the same thing. I think the mod is not to blame.

How do i uninstall DirectX so I can reinstall it?

you;d probably have to uninstall it in your control panel.

Start > control Panel > Add/remove programs

According to a few forums I vistited, SoftPedia had the answer. Apparently you run that little program, and it should uninstall old versions of DirectX.

I reinstalled the video card driver and downloaded a patch for hte game from the official site. Works great now. Even with the custom mod I downloaded, the mod works.
