I posted a warning to SwiftSwitch users thread, telling how SwiftSwitch will lag out in the middle of gameplay, and then a "SwiftSwitch has encountered a problem" message pops up.

I switched to playing Runescape on Runescape.com to avoid this but ... I can't escape it.

I just finished my second Barrow run, and I was at the Ectofuntus. I took a screenshot of my loot, logged out, pasted it in Paint, put it on here, and logged back in. As soon as I pressed the red "Click here to play." button, the window just closed out. With no warning. No lag. Just in a blink of an eye, first I'm checking how many days I have left until my membership needs renewing, then I'm staring at my wallpaper. It didn't even give me a "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to shut down." message!

The same thing happened in Verac's crypt. I had just killed him, and clicked on the stairs, and right when I was going up, RUNESCAPE CLOSES OUT@@@@!!!! I decided, no more Barrowing, until I decide what the heck is going on... so I sent a query in to Jagex.

The same thing happened to Steven Kill2 (Zaros), his browser just kept closing out with no lag or message! This is really getting on our nerves.

I suggest everyone bring Rings of Life when they do something dangerous, or not do it at all, in case this happens. I will post why this happens as soon as I get a reply.

Get the conspirators in here, I think Jagex's planning something evil.

There's the problem. You're using Internet Explorer. Switch to Firefox. It rocks better for some reason and I find I get a lot fewer errors.

My friends tell me that FireFox does the same thing.

More than IE.

That's another reason why I don't use SS. I've heard of it closing out people in the middle of the game.

Have you tried Opera? Personally I think it's better than Firefox. Havn't gotten an error since I downloaded it. More customization too. It has way more features too.

Try it out. http://opera.com/

Where was he asking for links to other browsers? Honestly.

This hasn't happened to me yet, but thanks for the warning.

What's with the browser advertising? (Lack of better word because the one I intended to use would trigger a warning.)

I think you just need to update your java or something, did you try that?

I think I have the latest version of Java... I don't know.

But how would that affect what's causing this?

It sounds like a problem with your computer, I'm still laughing than you were using IE and you got a Trojan XD. Yeah, I'm not much help.

I wouldn't recommend using SS anymore since Jagex placed a even faster world switcher.

To prevent cookies and trojans in IE go to internet options, privacy, and advanced. Then block all third party cookies and prompt all first party cookies...that should stop 99% of cookies (got that top of spybots website...works like a charm).

Now if I understand you right the page just disappears for Runescape. You go to a new page and then the tab is gone. I believe I've had this before. What you need to do is minimize or close all other windows, but not the browser. Then all of a sudden the page and the tab will open/popup (it is weird, but this has seriously worked for me before). This used to happen to me. If that is not what is happening to you then I don't know what to tell you.

I didn't say I was using it. This has nothing to do with that.

its cos of your java, "java runtime" i think. It happend to me a few times on Ubuntu which i think cos i have the wrong version installed for the wrong hardware. It isnt a problem with SS nor IE nor Firefox, try updating java or try a different version of java should do the job.
