Almost every time I turn off my computer after playing on it for a long time, it makes an odd sound. It's like a machine gun being fired (the whole clip). This did not happen until just recently. What can I do to fix it? It scares the **** out of me when I'm in my late night daze!

My computer is a HP pavilion a340n 2002 with a 120 gig hard drive, a IntelĀ® Pentium 4 processor, and 504 meg of RAM.

As for the sound, like Kyle said it's probly your fan. Just open it up give it a little tightening and it should be fine.
