Using a SATA HDD w\ a IDE set up

Ok so I have a 250g IDE HDD in my computer and it is fille dup so I want to buy a new one, well all the new HDD's are all SATA. My MB supports, SATA and IDE, but I didnt know if i could run a IDE HDD with my Mast Boot reors on itm neaning my OS is on it, and have a SATA HDD as my secondary.
