TURN OFF THE COMPUTER!!! You're wasting power for 1, and it also allows hackers to do their magic on your PC. They can do all sorts of weird stuff to your PC since your IP address isn't reset like when it does when you turn it off then on. (Don't ask it just gives you a new address thing every time you re-set so it's harder to find your PC's access address thingymabob to hack your PC.)
To get mine to work again when I had that problem, I had to replace almost everything (new HDD, motherboard, CPU and some new RAM) but now it's running like a charm
