Everytime I try running Runescape in High Detail it comes up with this message:

Your operating system: Windows XP x86 5.1

Your graphics card: Microsoft Corporation GDI Generic

Your graphics card driver has the following problems:

Software Rasteriser
Unsupported OpenGL Version
No Multi-Texturing
Insufficient Texture Units
No Extended Multi-Texturing

I honestly don't know what half of this means :? Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

It probably means that your graphics card isn't good enough. The key phrases being "Insufficient Texture Units" and "Unsupported OpenGL Version". What graphics card do you have? Is it integrated? If so that's definitely your problem.

Sounds like the exact same problem a friend was having. He's got an integrated Intel graphics card, but it was incorrectly identified as "Microsoft Generic". Not sure if that's just an error that prevents the applet from loading, or it's actually an under performing card, but I'd guess the latter.

Meh, is there another way of finding what graphics card you have other than unplugging my computer, and remove the outer casing? I honestly don't know too much about this; I've never really had this type of problem before.

Yes. Right click my computer. Choose properties. Select the hardware tab, then hit device manager.

You should see your graphics card if you expand the Display adapters tree.

You might need to install drivers for the graphics card. What type of computer is it (HP/Dell/etc..)? I'd recommend putting the software and driver recovery disk in and seeing if it can add any drivers. You could also check on Windows Update under the hardware section if it sees any drivers that are missing.

Load Windows Update. Click on custom, then on the right you can select hardware. See if it sees any that are relate to the video card.

Got Runescape in HD to work. I downloaded RS client, and apparently that fixed it. I learned a bit from this. Thanks a ton Shane. Whenever i'm having trouble with my PC, I know who to contact 8)
