You don't say exactly why you lose the connection.

If it's your provider you have problems with I'd change to another.

You need to give more details.. Eg:

What kind of internet do you have?
Who is your ISP?
Do you use a modem and if so what brand/model?
Do you use a router and if so what brand/model?

..... stuff like this is essential for any attempt at help/advice to be given ;-)

Are you using DSL Cable or Dial-up?

Quick fix for DSL, unplug the DSL wire which is the one plugged into your wall, then turn off modem, plug the wire back in, and turn on DSL box.

This happened to me once, and I quickly found the problem.

I had been infected with a botnet, and they were using our connection, along with hundreds or thousands of other computers' to DDoS sites.

I ran a packet sniffer called Wireshark, foud out what the packets looked like, where they were headed, etc.

I then found something in C:\WINDOWS\Config, a directory where nothing should be. It was csrss.exe, and it was the botnet. I had two instances of csrss running, whilst there should only be one. I got rid of it, and all was well.

Anyways, go to http://www.wireshark.org/download.html, and download Wireshark.

Run it when your internet starts to go out, and it will analyze traffic.

If possible, take some screenshots and save the logs, and I can analyze it.

If it's not what hummerwar says, make sure that the 'internet' light on your router is on. If its not on unplug your router and modem. Wait 5 - 10 minutes then replug your modem. Wait 5 minutes after that and plaug in your router.

If you don't have a router make sure the connected (or any other varriation of that) on your modem is blinking. If not unplug and wait 5 - 10 minutes then plug it back in.

Also make sure all of your wires and cable are properly connected, it may be due to a loose cable.
