Okay so I had a problem with turning on my PC this morning;
- Power Light wouldnt turn on,
- I could hear Hard Drives and the CPU
- When trying to power down my computer via holding down the power button, i got no response

On opening the case,
- Fan at the back of my computer as well as on the CPU were on
- Fan on the PSU wasn't on.

I have this power supply
-

What's the problem?
I would really like a way to fix this without buying any new parts, is that possible? :/

If fan isn't turning, should mean that your PSU is off, or you have a short circuit, but seeing as your HDDs and CPU are running, your PSU seems to be busted. I think you can use your warranty.
Otherwise try to power your PSU on manually, but I don't think it'll help.
Maybe that smart fan thing isn't working properly.

You need a new PSU, if you still have warranty use that.

I'd be tempted to agree that it's the power supply. Just due to the fact it wouldn't turn itself on. But then again it's weird that the intake fan and the cpu fan were on but nothing else. This would be the time where a volt metre would come in handy ;)

Even with a meter, he wouldn't be able to figure out if it's okay, IF YOU GOT WARRANTY, USE IT. don't risk your other components. Fan should be the primairy health indicator of your PSU. check the fan connections. Or, I've had this before, try to unplug your secondairy HDD if you have any. My pc Short circuit on one, had to swap it for another.

If things are running inside your computer then your PSU can't be 100% dead.

Make sure that all of your power connections are firmly connected.

If it still isn't working properly I would look into that warranty.

A Kid asked Jesus, "How much do you love me?" and Jesus said. "This much."
And spread his arms out on the cross and died.
If you believe that he did this for you put this in your signature.

K;

I have;
Checked the wall socket with a lamp (works perfectly)
Tried using spare power cables and re-set all cables inside the comp
Re-set RAM, CPU and cleared dust.

I'm convinced it's the motherboard but I don't know. :(

Well if you have another computer, why not pop in that PSU and check it out?
