I got the Blue Screen Of Death on my computer (using someone else's atm)

I got a WinXP boot disk, I try to repair my hard drive, but that doesn't seem like it's going to happen because the list of commands I recieved from Microsoft's website didn't do anything but delete necessary components, so I'm going to try and re-install WinXP from that disk. It will probably take forever and I won't have my files/programs/etc... saved onto it any more.

Does anyone have any more solutions before I go and hit the ENTER button to re-install?

A fast reply is appreciated.

Were you able to boot up again after the blue screen? Most of the time a blue screen is caused by a piece of hardware, driver, or other low level software. Did you make any changes to any of those type of things recently? Is it able to boot at all?

If you can boot start the boot process try going into safe mode by pressing F8 before the windows loading screen appears. See if this helps to try and get your files.

Try running a copy of SpinRite, sometimes that helps. Or, what are the error codes you are getting?

Did you install any security software with 'live protection' or anything like that before the bsod?

Sometimes the bsod is caused by two antivirus's running at the same time or any two 'live protection's.

A Kid asked Jesus, "How much do you love me?" and Jesus said. "This much."
And spread his arms out on the cross and died.
