This is my first post in ages. So why not start it off with a bang.

In Victoria Australia. I went to buy plastic cutlery in a supermarket (which i can't name). The attendant asked me for id. FOR PLASTIC KNIVES!!!. I didn't have any, so, i couldn't buy the knives.

This is utterly ridiculous. Plastic knives. Come on. Can anyone really see themselves getting help up at knife-point with a plastic knife. We use plastic knives for shrimps on the barbecue, picnics, camping utensils. They are easy to use and inexpensive. But to have to produce id and be over 18 to buy plastic knives. I might as well go to the store with self checkout, and do it there.

heres a link to the story.

What kind of weird laws does everyone here have in their own hometown.

cheers, dafin0

I get ID'ed to buy eggs all the time.
Apparently the law now dictates that fried egg sandwiches are an 18+ only food. XD

They probably ask for ID if you pay with a card.

In my neighborhood there are some kids who throw eggs at all the vehicles parked on the street every once in a while. IDing for eggs could possibly be because of those idiots.

Still, IDing someone for buying common things like that is ridiculous. Doesn't stop anyone from doing what they intend to, they'll just use something else, and it's an inconvenience for everyone else. For example, a box of pens would be more effective weapons than those brittle plastic knifes if that's what they are trying to stop.
