Chara claims he didn't mean to hurt Pacioretty
Pacioretty said he though Chara directed his head into the turnbuckle
Pacioretty suffered a severe concussion and a fractured vertebrae....

From what I saw it looked like a clean hit gone wrong?

Well Chara is the tallest and heaviest player in the league.

It's hard to say. There has to be some sort of separation between the benches. It was an extremely late hit though. But because it's a star player, the NHL of course doesn't suspend him. Bettman's a joke.

Just kidding, I'm not stupid. Was a regular hockey play and people run into that so often that it's an arena flaw that shouldn't even be there. I don't even know why there needs to be glass there in the first place since the benches are separated far enough that they can't reach each other but any bench to bench **** could just be dealt with harshly... But I don't understand why it's so hard to angle the glass so that there's nothing to run into either.

I liked how Bettman was like "Air Canada has the right to do as they wish with their sponsorship money just as our teams have the right to fly with another air service" that was really good AT LEAST.

He shouldn't be suspended, if this happened 5 more feet down the line it would be a normal check and a minor interference penalty. It's just the fact that he got hit into the turnbuckle hat caused all this stir.

To me at first glance, it looks like he was just pushing him after the play finished, not having any idea that they were that close to the pole. But it's hard to tell from any of those angles. My gut feeling was that it was an accident, but hockey is like this. Hits that weren't necessarily intentional or normally harmless can go wrong very quickly.
