Just kind of curious about what other schools are like, especially outside of the US.

I go to a boy's boarding school in the mountains as a day student, since I live in the area. I usually wake up around 6:30 to 7 in the morning to get ready. I eat breakfast, lunch, and (sometimes) dinner at the dining hall on campus. I have "job" at 7:50, where I go clean whatever I am assigned to clean. I then have about a half an hour to go ask teachers questions, finish homework, or mess around before classes (almost never the first one). Classes are about 45 minutes each, ending between 2 and 3, depending on my schedule for the day. On Wednesdays, I have "late wakeup", so I get about an extra hour of sleep, followed by my study hall, which means I have nothing to do until 10:30.
After school, I have sports, which are mandatory. The average sports period starts at about 3:45 and ends around 5 or 5:30.
For our dress code, we have collared shirts on Monday and Friday, shirt and tie Tuesday and Wednesday, and a sports coat on Thursdays.

I guess there aren't a lot of schools like this, but I'm just used to this schedule :P

That's really interesting, I have a friend who goes to a boarding school like that!
I wake up and get to school at 7:20, class starts 7:30, I get like 40 minutes for lunch, and get out 2:40 because I take 7 periods because I have an extra elective.
If i didn't care to take 7 and only took 6 I would start at 8:30 and end at 2:40 or start at 7:30 & end at 1:42.
Just a normal day, Yours sounds much more interesting.

I got to high school at a Charter School, my classes are very small (like 5-10 people) and I am LOADS of Independence.
Its been a major part of shaping who I am as a person.
I do often wonder what I would be like if I attended a more formal school.

Started at 9:10 am. A lot of people would take city buses... some drive. There were yellow school buses but only provided to people who live like 45 km away I think, which there were quite a few. It was one of the larger schools in Ottawa, I did a cross-boundary transfer to go to it. My graduating class was over 300 people compared the the grad class of my boundary school that was like 70 people. End at 3:25 pm, classes were 75 min long and there were 4 a day. Lunch was 1 hour. At end of January there were exams and then the semester change -> new classes, those exams mid June. There was day 1 and 2 but only thing that changed was afternoon classes swapped... even date was day 2, odd date day 1. There were no official snow days, even when portable classes were inaccessible, but there were days no one showed up but not a legitimate absence: you were skipping most teachers didn't care though (i.e. depending the teacher you could be responsible for missed work, homework, any test there was etc but most wouldn't do anything those days). There were elected co-prez and certain positions in student council elected. The co-prezs all promised the same thing the 4 years I was there, things that were promised even before I was there that never happened lmfao (e.g. school map in lobby or make all the clocks synced since like none were). Something as simple as naming each hallway and putting a sign up didn't even happen until I was in grade 11 lmao. No study hall thingy but in grade 12 if you got your credits right you could afford two "spares" and graduate, so like 1 a semester... Supposed to do work in caf or library or outside but if you leave school property supposed to sign out and back in not that anyone did because there was no attendance. First semester I had spare first period so I just didn't go in until like 10:25 usually (technically it is skipping). XD
What was special about it was it was an arts school (I was in general though). Basically excelled in english and arts department (lit, visual, dance, music and is sub categoreis, drama, dance). Plus there were specialized art programs for each thing in the arts department that elementary school students would have to apply and audition to get into in January of grade 8, and there isn't a spot for every applicant. So there were people who lived like an hour away or something as a result. Basically those in the arts program had enhanced art classes that you wouldn't get in other high schools and you would get a certificate on graduation.
Another result of that is 3 or 4 "Blockbuster Assemblies" a year which is like a bunch of performance acts put on by students that you could audition for or to host it. Kind of like talent shows I guess but with lots of talent.

SIXTH 2:06-3:00

That's my school schedule. I don't have a sixth period since I'm a senior. We run on a semester schedule. There are 296 students in my grade. School has about 1200 students in total.

My school operated with a 7-subject timetable, which is brilliant given New Zealand's qualification system (most other schools only do 5 or 6) as it maximises the number of credits available to students, however it does have the disadvantage that one can easily be spread too thin. It means that it's ridiculously easy to "pass", but it can be quite difficult to pass with high marks; it encourages students to aim low. If you pass, nothing else matters! Hooray! So my school ranked fairly fantastically among others for this reason but in reality the system is disturbingly flawed.

I'd usually wake up between 7:30 and 8am. School starts with Form Time (or a year-group assembly once per week) at 8:30; first period at 9:00; second period at 10:00; first break at 11:00; third period at 11:45; fourth period at 12:45; second break at 1:45; fifth period at 2:05 until school finishes at 3:05 (some of those periods are 65/60/55 minutes but it more or less works out like this).

So with 7 subjects and only 5 periods in a day, the timetable is needlessly confusing also, but it's one that you get used to after a while. Weeks are counted from the beginning of each term so the first week is odd week, second week even, and so on.

School of about 1800 students across 5 year levels; 100 staff; somewhere between 200-300 students in my final year.

Wow, we only have 220 students in our entire school, grades 8-12.
My schedule is:
A Block: 20th Century History
B Block: World Literature
C Block: Study Hall
D Block: Chemistry
E Block: Spanish 3
F Block: Geometry
H Block: Advanced Lab Tech

The schedule rotates so that we have about 3 hours of each class a week.

My schools middle school and high school, are combined. So i have been in the building for quite awhile now. First off theres no busing in my district. So I walk to school every day. We start at 7:40 and end at 2:50, with 8 43 minute periods. We also get a 45 minute lunch, and in high school you are permitted to have open campus.

My high school had block scheduling. We only had four classes a day, plus lunch :P and then they switched halfway through the year (except for certain AP classes which are year long). In my junior year I only had 6 classes the entire year thanks to block scheduling, so it's a pretty bad system they have.

But now I'm in college :P and it is sooo much nicer.

Our school is on a block schedule and everyone seems to loathe it, I have no problem with it though. School starts at 8:30 and ends at 3:20 with a 30 minute lunch. On Wednesdays, classes begin at 10:00 rather than 8:30. I find it funny how there are so many get physical activity intiatives nowadays yet my school/state requires 1 PE credit all throughout high school. Im looking forward to a more flexible schedule next year in college.

I think mine was 9 till 3:15. Each lesson an hour and like a 15 minute break and 45 minute lunch break. Something like that.

Was like 3 large buildings seperated and to get to the sports field you had to walk through a forest..with a river in it. So a lot of people got pushed in there much to the amusement of the people doing the pushing.

Was an alright school. One of the better ones in the area..was an all boys school tho untill the year i joined. So it was mostly boys. Had a few tennis courts, a farm, AstroTurf field for hockey n stuff and obvious the field for rugby and football. Gym indoors for basketball n such, weight room. Couple science labs for blowing stuff up. 3 or 4 tech rooms full of zie computers n stuff. More fun and games in there with there porn detection. Wasn;'t the greatest idea having it so if you go on a bad site it auto prints off the site and they send it home to your parents. So poor little billy who got pushed in the river earlier is now getting 20 letters sent home for going on animal porn cause some kids got on his computer.

Dress code was a green blazer, yellow and green tie, white shirt, black trousers and black shoes.

It was very much a school.

I'll get up at 7:00, shower, eat, etc.
I'll walk about 20 minutes to school
My school is this interesting mix of upper middle class kids and lower class kids..due to an older richer part of my city being close to the downtown area which is really nice, you meet people you would never otherwise meet.
5 classes a day..45 minutes each..1 of those classes is a mandatory study period, attendance is taken but no one really cares if you don't go occasionally.
lunch is 75minutes, you can do whatever during it
