have you ever tried to make a website forum blog or anything to make a community? did you fail? tell me about it

many of us did. but mostly the problem is that we use free websites/forums, we don't have short and nice domains, and we don't have topics to get people interested. This topic is actually to give people advice and learn from others mistakes.

I made a site called "Clan Boards".

It was established for the sole purpose of bringing clans together in a sort of "U.N." of RuneScape.
They could arrage wars, alliances, head hunts, trade, help, share secrets, or ask for help in terms of allied war.

It was made to bring clans to a central place, instead of hundreds of "communities" and "top 100" websites. It was supposed to be like an official clan gathering place.

It worked out well for a month, got like 20 clans registered with over 100 members. But eventually I couldn't maintain activity and clans didn't spread the word. It slowly died out.

Wow. Well you gotta keep spinning the wheel, don't give up you had a start, you need to keep pushing it putting youre work into it, advertising until you get good staff and the wheel has enough power to ride by itself you know what im saying

lol, the idea was made over a year ago. I've been done with runescape for years aswell. There's no reason for me to keep it up. Ideas live untill you let them die, never longer.

Right now i'm just relaxing.

I used to spend all my time in my clan, with 200 members and running it with only 4 "officers" to help each other was a full time job lol.

Yes I was starting my own clan (thug101z) with a friend of mine from school

yeah well anyway
we could never find anyone intrested in joining and becasue noone joined we never really edited the site which i think lost peoples intrest if any and yeah we just gave it up and forgot about it over time

No, because I have no one that would want to join, and there isn't really any topic I want to make one about.

I don't want to advertise to a good forum to join my forum.

interesting...i don't think people would like freewebs though, because the site has to be shiny, controlled, with cool features and mostly LEGIT, so experienced people would join and help you.

A few times actually. Once, I tried to make a website/forum for a huge Iron War I was hosting in 2007 however it never really went anywhere (I just decided to use threads on the official RuneScape forums.
Second I attempted to make my own Harry Potter fansite. After working at several Harry Potter fansites over the years I thought it would be cool to create my own, I even payed a graphic designer to create my layout. However, my lack of proper coding experience crippled me, so the whole thing never really took off.

I made an anti macroer club. It did well, for a long time. It got lots of members, and everyone was good friends.

I think the site died out before you got banned, in my opinion. (No offense)

But, yeah, I have tried a couple of times, and each time has failed... Miserably. xD
