According to this article 95% of 18-24 year olds are copying music illegally. Not really a hard thing to figure out, but now we've got a real statistic.

That's common sense. Anyone who doesn't believe that is naive.

Although I do download/copy/pirate a considerable amount of music, owning the CD has always been better for me.

Owning is great, but the convenience of just downloading is wonderful. I support the bands I listen to most, but they make more through their tours than anything else. I'd rather screw the record companies than the actual bands, and show up to a concert.

Yeah, well... I'm feeling rather bitter on this topic now because I must have wasted about £50 on music over the past few months. I was buying my music off iTunes for a while, but after a reformat of my computer I found I was unable to get any of my downloads back, so until these record companies offer completely free downloads, they can go **** themselves and I'll become best friends with the pirate bay. ^_^

Ding Ding.

Not ever going to stop "stealing" music until i can buy an album at a reasonable price. It does not cost £10-£15 to make the case + disc. You're broadcasting this thing to millions of people that more than covers any advertising/studio costs.

DVDs are even worse £10 for a film? l0l er no.

I think I've bought enough CDs that I don't listen to to cover up what I have, which is even, believe it or not, video game music and soundtracks.

But that's the thing. Kids want music they love now, and they want to get it without having to buy the other two dozen tracks accompanying it because they "aren't as good". So what better way then to just download that single piece off the CD or by whatever means necessary?

I personally think it's sort of annoying to have to pay 20 bucks for a CD with only two songs out of the 20 that you actually like. If it was more flexible ... say, burning the CDs at the store with all the stored soundtracks and songs of your choice ... now I would PAY for that. Seriously. A CD with every song a rocking one and nothing wasted.

That's what we need. There, problem solved. *Takes a bow and leaves*

I have not actually popped in a CD to listen to music in ages. I can't even remember when the last time was. Anyway, until cheap and easy-to-get songs are able to be bought readily, there's going to be piracy. And this idiocy about how backing up your music digitally is copyright violation is just nonsense.

My theory is, download the song/songs listen to it and see if you like it. If I like a band, I buy their latest CD. Even if I only have heard 1 track off the album I'll still buy the whole album because the rest of the album is bound to be good. That way the bands I like don't lose out.

Actually, if you downloaded them through an account that you've still got, you should be able to contact Apple and get them again. Oh, and always back up your computer :P

Well, I can understand that downloading music is illegal but...Who the hell on earth dont do it ?

I sometimes download music then copy it off on a cd but I put most of my music on my iPod.

LimeWire is stupid. Type in a band name and £10 says you get "[insert band name here] cute girl on webcam xxx..."

Torrents are better. I download quite a lot of torrents.

So true. It's very annoying.

Limewire = Single Tracks
Torrents = Full Albums
