Is this fair ?

I got two d's, one c, and two b's on my report card. My mom grounded me for two months from the computer, and I get 2 hours of T.V. time a day.

Is that a fair punishment ? Please respond.

-Andy

P.S. I am on at my dad's house, he thinks my mom is insane for that.

That seems like a fairly good report to me o_O.
Seems out of order imo.

Well it depends.

Assuming the grading scale where you are is:
80-100% - A- to A++
70-79%- B- to B+
60-69%- C- to C+
50-59%- D- to D+
0-49%- R

She's taking away your privileges because you're not doing well in school. She believes the reason for that is you're not spending enough time on school work and spending too much time on the computer and television. It's kind of fair. She doesn't want to make you miserable, she wants to make you improve and do well. And that is very important.
Two months often doesn't show as two months, if you make it look like you're improving. Try to improve all your grades into the expected level, which is a 70%+ here. 80% is beyond expectations. Do your homework as soon as you get home, preferably somewhere near your mother so she knows you're doing it.

If you believe you have been improving, meet with your teachers about your grades. If you have, see where they are now. Ask the teachers on ways you can improve. Try to schedule a meeting between your teachers and your mother, which can be done over the phone. (If you *have* been improving) If your mother sees that you've been doing well, you may regain some of your privileges. But you will have to keep it up, because they can be taken away a lot faster than they can be earned.

Tbh, I think 2 months is a little much, but I don't exactly know you. Other factors could of influenced her decision. Like your last year report cards, etc.

Well 2 months are kinda too much but however when I was back in Middle School, I did get grounded if i got bad grades during weekly progress report usually for about 1 week or so...that way if i got below C i'd get punished for the rest of the next week....But since this is your report card i think it is reasonable for 2 months.

I'm on a different scale.

100 - 94% is A
94 - 82% is B
82 - 73% C
73 - 60% D
60 - 0% F

Shes your mother. Fair doesn't come into it. :P

Parents aren't always fair. It's in your best interests.

If you wouldn't do poorly in school, your Mom wouldn't have to do anything "insane".
Playing on the computer is a privilege.
And Mom's want the best for you.
You are also probably 12 years old, and should be focusing on improving your school work and academic things instead of playing Runescape and talking on these forums.

Improve your grades and you can have privileges.

I must say, that is pretty insane. My parents never really ground me, and if they do its only for a day or two. So for your mother to ground you for 2 months, thats just really a bit too far in my opinion.

Maybe you could use the time to study harder and do better in your classes. It couldn't hurt. If your mum sees you studying more, she might reduce your restriction.

Well the 2 D's are what got you. If you woulda got maybe 3 C's or something the punishment might not of been as bad or not even there. But a D is just under an F.

I can see clearly why she grounded you.

This is just my opinion, but she's doing the right thing. Good job on the 2 B's but the 2 D's don't show a lot of effort on your part. She's trying to get you to work to your potential. I'm more disappointed with your dads reaction than your moms.

Well said.

We all hate the choices that our parents make for us, but in the end you realise why they do it.

You don't benefit from playing games as much as you do from studying and doing your school work. Are you even allowed to use the computer for school assignments, such as one that involves typing of some sort?
