I am running out of interesting books in the small libraries around me, so I was looking for some recommendations I could order via the Internet or buy in a bookstore. I'm interested in all kinds of books (except romance novels, and I'm not that big a fan on sci-fi either) so genre doesn't really matter.

The Alex Rider series are good (first book is called Stormbreaker). They're by Anthony Horiwitz. And, if you have read them, which you should have, the Harry Potter series. And there is Dangerous Girls, by RL stine. It's an awesome book. Those are pretty much my favorite books.

I read HP and every book by Anthony Horowitz (except his supernatural books, which are awful).

I was never really a fan of RL Stine, but I might look into that one.

The Lightning Thief. By far one of the best books I've read.

I wasn't so much a fan of the Da Vinci code book, but Angels and Demons was an excellent book, as well as Deception Point and Digital Fortress.

I would definetely recommend the Wind On Fire series by William Nicholson - The Wind Singer, Slaves of the Mastery and Firesong. And if you haven't already, read Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials.

I'd also recommend the Old Kingdom Trilogy, by Garth Nix - Sariel, Lirael and Abhorsen.

And make sure you read plenty of Terry Pratchett. The Colour of Magic, The Light Fantastic and Thief of Time are probably my favourites by him, but he has written so many.

I know it's not fiction, but The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins is also an excellent book.

I find Pendragon a bit cliche, but it's okay.

Anyway, yes Philip Pullman is a must. Also try the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan, the Sword of Shannara Trilogy by Terry Brooks, the Dark Tower Series by Stephen King, The Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud, pretty much any Garth Nix books (I like his Keys to the Kingdom Series along with the Old Kingdom Trilogy Matthew recommended), and Faerie Wars by Herbie Brennan.

Oh ****, you got there before me. :(

"Holes" by Louis Sachar is good. And also Agatha Christie's books.
