Gun Control?

What is your stance of gun control? If your not for it explain why. If you believe it is necessary explain why.

The American constitution gives Americans the right to buy and carry firearms, but then again that was the 1800's where people didn't kill people as often as they do now.

In my state (Indiana) i can legally buy a shotgun/rifle at 18 years old, and a pistol at age of 21. I can have someone buy me a pistol and register in my name and i can legally own a gun at any age.

I believe in gun control to a point. As an American i have to right to own and carry a gun, but i do not have the right to shoot a person. All guns shouldn't be taken away from people, this is America there will be a massive underground market for them over night. The government should control the distribution's of guns, the state currently does. There should be a limit of 2 guns per person, one pistol and one rifle. All military weapons will be banned and all machine guns. I wont go into gun control to much farther just really wanted to break the ice on it. Whats your view?

Oh, and guns are illegal in Sweden.
Unless you have gun license and hunt animals. (Hunter skill ftw!)
But then it's just a sniper rifle, no big deal :twisted:

Pistols are easier to hide, and there used more in crimes.

i believe there should be a limit on guns. unless you are a police officer or maybe a security guard you should only be allowed a low caliber handgun.

you don't need an Ak47 to go hunting or protect your family. freaking people with like 10 guns in their homes. 3 shotguns, 3 assault rifles, 3 hand guns and hunting rifle.

i believe you only need a handgun if you want to protect yourself and your family. unless you're hunting grab a bolt action or a semi automatic one. it can only fire as fast as you can squeeze the trigger.

Banned for anyone who doesn't need one.

So only farmers, police, army and such can carry them.

Illegal to own any gun with a very long prison sentence if there caught with one.

10-20 years down the line i guarentee gun crime will have gone down.

If people have guns for their hobbies, they should be stored in a building protected by the government, where they can withdraw it when they need it. I don't think that people should be carrying them around or keeping them in their homes.

That would not help at all, and like Kyle said there is a huge underground market for them so If you were a complete pyhco you could still get a gun...

yes but one question, how would they inforce the ban?
Drugs are illegal and people still sell/buy them

The only reason you have so may gun deaths is because 'almost' everyone has a gun. Take away the guns, and there will be less gun deaths.

If drugs were legal, there would be at least five times more buying it.

No need to explain why to ban guns, Anubis already did it.

If the person who would want to kill someone (Which is amazingly stupid anyway considering the punishment) is any wiser than an ordinary American, he'd understand to use something else than guns anyway.

And i can't think of a scene where someone wants someone dead that badly.

so then your saying that people would stop using guns as much and use more of knives and the such? but that leaves the murder has a choice to make, break an extra law which makes it easier because they have a power full long range weapon or have a harder time trying to kill the person and use another weapon like a knife.
Think about it You kill a person your normally sent to jail FOR LIFE what would an extra charge add to a life sentence?
